Violence Awareness and Random Acts of Kindness Week - March 9-15, 2020

The 24th annual Violence Awareness & Random Acts of Kindness Week is being held March 9 - 15, 2020. The purpose of the week is to promote positive energy to counteract the negative effects of senseless violence in our society, through acts of kindness. The Kindness Program is offered to 59 area elementary schools and 14 high schools reaching over 24,000 students, as well as the greater Hastings & Prince Edward County communities.

You are invited to participate in the planned events for the week:

*Tuesday, March 10th, Kindness Crews will take to the streets committing Random Acts of Kindness across the greater Quinte & Prince Edward Communities.

*Wednesday, March 11th will be “Blue Ribbon of Hope Day”.  The entire community is invited to wear and display blue ribbons as a symbol of hope to end senseless violence.

 *Thursday, March 12th Thankful Thursday - text, message or call someone who has touched your life with an act of kindness.

*Saturday, March 14th the draw for Kindness Citizen of the Year will take place. Nominate a co-worker, family member or friend - someone who has made a positive difference in your life ... it's that simple!

Raffle ticket draw will also take place on Saturday for a hand made "Give Kindness a Little Push" bear & rabbit theme quilt and a $50 gift card. Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5 and will be available at the VARAK booth in Kindness Court at the Quinte Mall during VARAK week.


*Sunday, March 15th is Random Acts of Kindness Day.  All citizens are encouraged to open their hearts for the good of others.  If you can be anything, be kind!!
